Get me out of trouble.
Linux engineers at your fingertips
Our Get Me Out Of Trouble ("GMOOT") process is a fast way to get a hand with an urgent server or network issue that only needs a couple of hours of an expert's time. It's a streamlined, fixed-fee engagement: we provide up to 4 hours of work to investigate and resolve your issue, no ongoing contract required.
What GMOOT is good for.
GMOOT shines on urgent, self-contained problems. For anything larger, we'll point you to a better-fitting option.
We can help with
- Password resets
- RAID hard drive issues, review and resolve
- Quick high-level security review
- Server health check
- Design and architecture questions
- Linux mail server issues, such as SPF record analysis or file system problems
- Pick an engineer's brain
- Backup recovery
- Or a small issue you'd like to use to evaluate what it's like to work with us
We can't help with
- Non-urgent requests that don't need immediate attention
- Issues that can't be worked through in one session of up to 4 hours
- Projects that need more than 4 hours to complete
Need more time? For options such as hour blocks, see our Linux consulting services.
How it works.
Submit the form with your information and the basic details of the issue.
We confirm receipt and ask any clarifying questions we need.
We check with our team to confirm we have the skillset and availability within your timeframe.
We send an official proposal with terms and conditions and an NDA if applicable.
Once funds are received, we assign an engineer and start the work.
As we near the time limit, we share findings, conclusions, and recommended next steps.
Remote access
We deliver all Linux and DevOps consulting remotely, usually over SSH. We can share our static IPs so you can open the SSH ports on your firewall, along with our team's public SSH keys. Alternatives such as VPN, web consoles, remote desktop, or screen sharing work but are less efficient. The easier you make it for us to get in, the more time we can spend actually solving your problem.
Price, terms & conditions
- $995 for up to 4 hours of technical work, plus applicable taxes.
- Time spent getting access to your systems counts toward the 4 hours, so please streamline it.
- Requires acceptance of our Master Customer Agreement (terms and conditions).
- Covers up to 4 consecutive hours of investigation. Splitting the time beyond one week can't be accommodated.
- The 4 hours is a minimum fixed charge, there is no refund if the issue is resolved sooner.
- If we find a solution but can't complete it within 4 hours, we submit a proposal with additional budget.
- Inactive GMOOT tickets are closed after one week of inactivity.
